November 29, 2017 | 4:15 pm - 5:30 pm | CETLS, Room S510D
Presenter: Shane Breaux (Ph.D. Candidate in Theatre, CUNY Graduate Center)
This talk focuses on African and Asian American comedians and their performances of stage-constructed blackness and Asian-ness in addition to those who were presented them to the public in order to address the intentional, and institutionalized, forgetting of this history, which has distorted the significant role that non-white comedians have played in the history of American musical comedy.
This event is organized by the Memory Studies FIG. Please contact Sarah Madole (smadole@bmcc.cuny.edu) or Amy Sodaro (asodaro@bmcc.cuny.edu) for more information.
