September 28, 2017 | 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm | CETLS, Room S510D
How can topic debates be used as a successful tool for teaching and learning? All BMCC faculty are invited to share their experiences using debates in the classroom at this brown bag session. If you haven’t yet incorporated debates into your classes, join us to get ideas about how to get started. We’ll discuss specific strategies and challenges for setting up student debates. We will be joined by Andres Colapinto (Social Sciences), who will share a debate assignement that he has developed, and by students from the BMCC Debate Club.
This session is part of a faculty-led “brown bag” series on pedagogy that takes place once a month in CETLS. Each meeting will focus on a specific topic related to teaching and learning. We will discuss effective teaching strategies as well as challenges in a non-formal environment. Please bring your own lunch!
